Don’t make the mistake of relegating your black suit to funeral-only attire. That same ubiquitous suit can be worn to work, meetings, weddings, formal occasions, black tie dinners - and yes - also to funerals.
While fashion trends seem to be veering away from the solid black suit, it's a mistake to exclude the quintessential black suit from your wardrobe. Black suits evoke images of power, sex appeal, and mystery.
Black is the most slimming colour and works wonders for concealing an unflattering shape - particularly when the fabric is tailored correctly. Working with the sharp contrast of a crisp white shirt, you can wear almost any tie colour with a black suit, which makes it a no-hassle choice on a rushed mornings.
Recently, we've heard speculation as to whether a black suit can be worn during the day or not. In our professional opinion, we believe it is acceptable to wear one during the day only if you work in a conservative office environment, are attending a day wedding, or going to a funeral. Otherwise, black is the definitive colour of the night and most suitable for evening wear.
If you are wearing a black suit to your own wedding, then you may want to include style features such as either a satin covered lapel or satin bordered lapel with satin covered buttons. This adds some extra elegance to your look and will also differentiate you as the groom from all the other guests and groomsmen in black garments.
